What is Recorded Delivery?

30th March 2023, 8:08am in Shipping Advice by Amy Newham

Recorded delivery (also known as signed for delivery, proof of delivery or signature tracking) provides extra security and peace of mind when sending urgent or valuable parcels.

Many couriers will ask for an electronic signature upon delivery, alongside real-time tracking information. With Interparcel, book a low-cost signed delivery service to save time and money sending parcels domestically.

What is Recorded Delivery?

Recorded delivery requires the recipient to sign for the parcel when they receive it. Depending on the service, the courier might request a signature on a hand-held electronic device, ask for a name or take a photo of the parcel outside your door.

Recorded delivery is ideal for an urgent or special delivery like a birthday present. Many of our Next Day services include a signature upon delivery for free, adding an extra layer of protection.

What is the difference between Recorded Delivery and Tracked Delivery?

Recorded means the delivery driver might obtain a signature from the receiver upon delivery. It does not necessarily mean that the parcel is trackable too.

Luckily, all deliveries booked through us are trackable online after collection for free. Just enter your 12-digit tracking number starting with GB into the Interparcel Tracking Tool for recorded delivery tracking information.
