When is Mother’s Day this year?
Mothering Sunday falls on 19th March 2023. However, if you live in the UK but your mum lives in the United States, Canada or Australia, it falls on Sunday 14th May. Luckily, you have a bit more time to plan!
What can I send instead of flowers for Mother’s Day?

Chocolate (UK only)
You can’t go wrong with a box of chocolates unless you try and send one that’s already open! Chocolates by post are suitable to send, providing it’s in original and unopened packaging – so buy a second box if you want to try a few flavours for yourself! Some countries also don’t allow any importation of food - so stick to domestic services.
Alcohol
If your mother enjoys a tasty tipple, you’ll be pleased to hear you can send her an alcoholic beverage of choice via Parcelforce and the APC Liquid service. Liquids are a grey area in parcel delivery because they pose a risk to other parcels if they break and spill. That’s why you can only send them with two of our couriers.
For UK deliveries, alcohol must be under 70%, so wine, beer, and spirits all pretty much fall under that category giving you plenty of choices when searching for the best bottle.
Clothes
With the UK’s unpredictable weather, it’s layer season! Send the gift of comfort in the form of cosy pyjamas, slippers or a dressing gown. She deserves a day of relaxation. What better way of enjoying Mother’s Day morning than being snuggled up on the sofa in fresh pyjamas and a cup of tea?
Clothes are one of the most popular items sent via courier and are fairly simple to package. Many small items also fit in packet services, so sending clothing is a lot cheaper too!

Does post get delivered on Mother’s Day?
Even though Mother’s Day is a holiday, it’s not observed as a national holiday. Therefore, most courier services operate normally in the build-up to the day and over Mother’s Day weekend.
