14th December 2021, 10:10am in Shipping Advice by Amy Newham

Christmas Day is less than 2 weeks away! (We can hardly believe it ourselves.) If you haven't managed to get round to posting your presents yet, don't fret! You still have time to send a parcel internationally in time for the 25th.

Our parcel networks are very busy around this festive season, so we recommend sending your parcels as early as possible. For worldwide deliveries, the deadline is 20th December! So, make that cup of tea, grab a gingerbread biscuit and get wrapping!

What international services do Interparcel offer?

Opening Christmas present from friend abroad

We continue to provide some of the best services and prices for delivery internationally throughout the Christmas period and to the UK and Europe.

Whether your parcel is destined for USA, Canada, Australia, Philippines or Singapore, to name a few, you can book via one of our many services:

Express (20th December)

We recommend sending your parcel with FedEx, DPD and UPS for a speedy service abroad.

FedEx Priority offers fast and reliable worldwide express delivery for parcels up to 68kg. Delivery is between 1-5 working days and will collect from your home or work address, so you don't have to move a muscle!

DPD Air Express is perfect for packages up to 30kg and prices start from only £17.75!

Standard (17th December)

If you are ready to send your parcels abroad, Parcelforce could be the courier for you. Parcelforce Global Priority offers fast worldwide parcel delivery in 2-12 working days.

We also offer standard global services with TNT, FedEx and DPD so you can choose the service that is best suited for your sending needs.

Drop Off (17th December)

If you don't want to wait for a delivery driver during this busy time of year, you can drop off your parcel at one of the thousands of Drop Off points located across the UK. Open 7 days a week; you can book a Drop Off service with us and hand over your package to a local convenience store at a day and time that suits you. You can view the nearest stores to you using our handy Drop Off locator.

DPD Air Classic Drop Off and DPD Air Express Drop Off services are great choices for those non-time sensitive shipments that still require full tracking. You can drop off your Christmas parcel at one of many local convenience stores and your parcel could begin its journey across the pond the very same day!

What do I need to do before sending a parcel internationally?

If you have a gift to send internationally or an order to fulfil for a customer overseas, we can get your parcel to their doorstep quicker than you may think! There are just some key things to remember:

Prohibited and Restricted items

Different countries and couriers all have their own list of prohibited or restricted items. To avoid leaving your gifts to chance, read our handy prohibited and restricted guide for a comprehensive list.

Our popular Christmas items blog also looks at some of the most common presents sent during this festive season. But, not all of them are suitable to be sent with us, so please check to avoid disappointment!

You can also see some other classic examples in our video:

Customs Form

Completing a commercial invoice is an essential part of the shipping process when sending shipments outside of the UK. These forms must be filled out accurately, as this is what the customs authorities will use to determine if taxes and duties apply to the goods you are sending.

Don't forget, now the UK has left the EU, these forms also have to be filled out when sending to Europe. But, don't worry, when you book with Interparcel, we will walk you through the process of filling out these documents so that your parcel can successfully clear Customs. To learn more about the customs forms and the changes to European shipments, please check out our Customs Invoice blog.

Transit Cover

All of our services come with a level of transit cover between £20 - £100, but when shipping expensive Christmas gifts abroad, it's worth opting for a higher level of protection. You can add this amount to the booking process for a small fee.

Packaging

Packaging parcel securely for worldwide shipment

When sending parcels, but especially abroad, you need to make sure your product is well protected and the package is robust enough to withstand handling in transit, as well as the unpredictable weather conditions!

Anything you send with us must be encased in cardboard; otherwise it cannot be sent through our services. We recommend you individually wrap items in bubble wrap or cushioning materials to reduce the risk of movement within the box.

Send your Christmas presents with Interparcel

All shipments booked through us come with full-online tracking from collection right through to delivery so you can be confident that your Christmas presents are in safe hands when shipping worldwide. You will be given a unique tracking number at the time of booking that you can share with the receiver if you want them to monitor their package's journey.

Ready to send your present abroad with us? It's simple to book; all you need to do is enter your parcel details via our Quote Tool for an instant list of reputable courier services.
