Frightful costumes, ghoulish treats and pumpkins flying off the shelves can only mean one thing- it’s nearly Halloween!

Halloween celebrations get bigger every year, so we’ve got you covered for whatever reason you need to send a parcel for Halloween. Read our sending guide to learn more about the holiday, how to send popular Halloween items and book a frightfully low-cost delivery service with one of our carriers.

When is Halloween 2023?

All Hallows’ Eve (Halloween) takes place annually on 31st October. This year, the 31st is a Tuesday. Halloween is a recognised holiday like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter Sunday, and Father’s Day.

How do we celebrate Halloween?

There isn’t a set way to celebrate Halloween, but the main thing is to have fun!

From dressing up and trick-or-treating to carving pumpkins and watching scary films, there are many ways people of all ages celebrate Halloween around the world.

Sending Popular Halloween items

Halloween costumes

Halloween costumes are typically something you wear once and never again – you can’t turn up to a party as a witch for the third year in a row!

Instead of letting your old Halloween costume gather dust, you can sell it online and put the money towards a new one. eBay is a great platform to buy and sell new or second-hand costumes. If you sell on eBay, you can connect your store to our Shipping Manager to process and dispatch your orders.

Fortunately, most Halloween costumes are lightweight, so they can easily be folded and sent in a packet or a small parcel. This means you won’t have to pay much for your shipping, so you’ll keep more of the profit.

Halloween decorations

preparing a Halloween parcel for shipping

Aside from the classic jack-o-lanterns, so much Halloween décor is available to purchase from stores and online. If you are shipping a decoration, use a suitable amount of packaging material and a new, strong cardboard box.

Please be aware that certain materials, like glass, are restricted items, so they cannot be claimed if damaged in transit. We suggest you carefully wrap your item and nestle it in soft materials to minimise movement and avoid unnecessary fright!

Sweets/chocolate

Arguably, one of the best parts of Halloween is the abundance of sweets and treats (no tricks!). However, there are some rules surrounding sending food in the post. In general, sweets are better to ship as they have a long shelf-life, which means they are usually okay to send abroad. Still, please check with the courier and the destination country’s rules.

On the other hand, chocolate is typically acceptable to send within the UK but not recommended to ship abroad.

Nonetheless, you should always check with the individual courier and the destination country. Each country has different rules or regulations to abide by. For instance, DPD and Landmark Global do not accept food on any of their services.

For further information, our blog post on sending food provides detailed guidance on shipping food by courier.

Personalised Halloween gifts

Online marketplaces such as Etsy and Not On The High Street are home to thousands of unique businesses offering bespoke or handmade gifts, and Halloween is no exception.

If you run a small business, we recommend you make the most of Halloween by creating Halloween-themed packaging, offering limited-time discount codes or branding your tracking portal. Utilising any of these features can help boost store sales and is good practice for the upcoming festive season.
