Activities To Do With The Family This May Bank Holiday

Hurray for May! Spring is in full swing, lockdown is easing and we have two Bank Holidays to enjoy with our loved ones. With the rule of 6 now in place for outdoor gatherings, we have more freedom to start enjoying the warmer months safely. To celebrate, here are 6 ideas for you and your friends and family to get involved with this May bank holiday…

1) Make waves at the beach

We all miss the sand in our toes, fish and chips on the pier, and the instant regret of paddling in the cold sea! Our UK beaches are great for exploring with the kids and provide plenty of fresh air and a much needed break from our desks at home. 2) Picnic at the park (dogs heavily encouraged)

Take a four-legged friend to the park and enjoy a picnic in the sunshine. There are many green parks available for the kids to run around in and plenty of shady woodland for your pooch.

Across England, Scotland and Wales there are many protected green spaces perfect for long walks, bike rides and picnics and best of all, they are free! Start bank holiday right and get out there in the fresh air.

3) Go wild at the zoo

Don't stay 'lion' around, go on a day adventure to the zoo! Grab your significant 'otter' and head out to see the wildlife you have missed up close. ZSL London Zoo was established in 1828 making it the oldest scientific zoo in the world and is home to a variety of animals including giraffes, zebras, gorillas and adorable Humboldt penguins. Just make sure to keep a lions length apart from one another and buy a few souvenirs to post to those who could not be there!

4) Reach new heights at the theme park

Throw your hands in the air and smile at the camera- theme parks have reopened! The UK offers many attractions including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and Chessington World of Adventures to name a few. With lockdown restrictions eased, thrill seekers everywhere can finally experience the adrenaline rush of flying through the air. The little ones can also experience their first rollercoaster ride, all with social distancing and increased cleaning operations in place. Don't forget to snap your memorable moments to share!

5) Craft a scrapbook

As always with England, the weather can be unpredictable. If it happens to rain, take the time to work together and create a scrapbook of past adventures.
